Well done our school - it is great  for the rest of us to hear what great things you are doing.

Lack of Jubilee spirit in Ruyton

Have you having a street party or Jubilee BBQ in your street/garden?  If so, have a great Jubilee Day Celebration.
OR

Are you disappointed that there are no Union Jacks or bunting festooning Ruyton XI Towns?

Perhaps you are enraged that "they" have not organised any events to celebrate the Queen`s Diamond Jubilee in our village.

Allow me to remind you of some important emails which sent out earlier this year:-

23rd May 2011
I wrote to Colin Case asking if there were any plans for the Diamond Jubilee - 12 months ago!

19th July 2011
The Diamond Jubilee was discussed and the Parish Council said they would support any organisation with plans to  celebrate the Jubilee.

20th July 2011
School said they would do something but had no plans as yet

29th July 2011
Mailing List - requesting ideas on how to celebrated the Diamond Jubilee

30th July 2011
Colin had looked into having a beacon on the Cliffe or the Brownhill Fields

3rd September 2011
Colin had a chat with Alan Herbert who said Boreatton Scouts would love to be involved in anything from building a beacon to litter picking.

On 9th September 2011 I sent out the following notice from Colin via the Mailing list:-

I have been exploring the possibilities for some sort of Celebration of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee next June.
There seems to be an apetite for doing something - but not sure quite what or where.
The date is June 4th - a Monday
The main elements appear to be:-
A Beacon (either a big bonfire or a gas-powered basket beacon)
A Procession (we normally start at the School, but this is open to debate)
A Party of some sort

The first step is to get an organising team together - things like this don't happen on their own.
So please let me know if you are willing to help - colin@rxit.org.uk or 01939 260628
I am in close contact with our School and our local Scouts/Cubs/Beavers etc.
But I don't want to duplicate other people's efforts - if you are already organising something, please let me know.

The School will be on holiday all week from Friday 1st June to Monday 11th June. Monday and Tuesday (4th & 5th) are Bank Holidays, so most people will not be at work.

We need to get going, so please email or phone with offers of help, thanks,

(note that this is not a formal Parish Council activity, though it has their outline support)
Colin Case
-------------------------------
The result of this appeal was that the only people who showed any interest in planning the Jubilee Celebrations were the Charter Committee who had spent 4 years running events so that the Charter Festival could take place in June 2008!  But we felt we had done our bit.
----------------------------
I can think of 10 or 12 groups in the village so

Could it be that you or your group/organisation are the "they" who have not put out the flags to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee in Ruyton XI Towns??

Village Hall painting update

A good first day's work.
Most external doors rubbed down, half the ceiling is now white again, and most of the upstairs woodwork has had its first coat. Lots of holes filled.
Three days to go!
The workforce are prisoners from Stoke Park Adult Prison - so many thanks to the Governor for supporting such a scheme, and to Gillian (Shropshire Council) and Luke (Prison Officer) for organising the project and of course the daily supervisors and inmates who actually do the work. I didn't put this in my first email because I wanted to check with the Officers that I had got the details right.
After half-term a similar team is due to redecorate the inside of the Memorial Hall and to repaint the white rendering on the front.
So a busy Summer for all concerned - thanks very much,

Flicks in the Sticks at Loppington

Loppington is not that far away to go and see this reputedly wonderful film.

War Horse (12a)

When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets.
