The CIRCUS is COMING TO TOWN!

Message from Colin Case.

The Circus is coming to Ruyton XI Towns on Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th.
You may have noticed the posters and flyers.

By screwing up my eyes I see that Pinders` circus is setting up in Doctor`s Meadow.  Tickets are £4.50 and Colin is acting as booking office.

This is a real circus with clowns, an eleven year old knife thrower and crazy car - but no animals.  Do take a look at www.PindersCircus.co.uk

There is a suggestion that tickets sold via the school get some sort of "bonus" for the school.
Not sure how it works, but to maximise potential benefit I am quite happy to be a "conduit" for ticket sales - school doesn't start until Tuesday so is unlikely to be able to benefit otherwise.

Sentinel Steam Lorries parade

Message from Chris Cole, Maesbrook.

This year is the 100th anniversary of Sentinel Steam Lorries - this should be a wonderful sight, even if they hold you up as they head for the Horseshoe Pass.

All these great vehicles will be at the Shrewsbury Steam Fair at Onslow Park on Sunday & Monday 30 & 31.
About 20 Sentinel lorries will be driving up to the Ponderosa on Saturday morning. They will be leaving the Sentinel Works on the Ditherington Road from 08.00. No idea how long it will take them to get to Llangollen and then up to the Horseshoe Pass.     Sentinental two gear Tractor at Attingham Park last Sunday

Baschurch Village Hall is in desperate need of support, especially from the people of that village of whom, unfortunately, we have very few on the mailing list.

Saturday 26th September 6.30 for 7pm   Tickets £5

Clothing for all ages and tastes, sizes 8 - 30 from River Island, Monsoon, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis and Evans and more.  See attached poster to put on a wall, fence, door, gate or even a noticeboard near you.

Contact for tickets in advance:

    CarolLeeden@btinternet.com    Tel: 01939 261 533
Please come and support Baschurch Village Hall. We desperately need your support at this fund raising event. It is extremely expensive to keep our hall open for our community to use and hiring it our alone does not cover these costs. Please show your support by coming along to this event and have some fun in the process. If we don't have your support we are in danger of closing the doors on a much loved village resource. How much do you value your hall? We really hope to see you there. Tickets to be purchased in advance please as only very limited numbers available on the night.

Ruyton History - Ray `Willpower` Williams

There was sad news in tonight`s Shropshire Star about the death of Ray
`Willpower` Williams.

Ray spent most of his life in the village and was Ruyton`s one man
Strongman act, raising thousands of pounds for various charities. I
remember him eating 8 portions of fish and chips from Roy & Beat
Penton`s van outside the Bridge Inn.

Ray met Edna, the love of his life here in Ruyton, they were married in
Shifnal in 1984 and lived there for the rest of their lives until her
death in December 2009 and his a couple of weeks ago.

Everything Ray did was for other people, whether it was raising money,
sweeping snow from neighbours paths, taking out their dustbins or
hundreds of other helpful, thoughtful jobs - we could all learn much
from him.

Read all about him in the attached display from the 2007 Great Ruyton
History Exhibition.

Be glad that you knew him or regret that you did not.

NHS decisions on future of Telford & Shrewsbury hospitals

NHS Future Fit decision ensures a healthy future for Princess Royal and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites but rules out greenfield

The leaders of the NHS Future Fit met today to discuss the next steps for the programme to transform NHS services in Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire.

They considered in-depth work into the affordability of the six scenarios that were shortlisted for hospital services, which also serve patients from Mid Wales, in February.

This work has concluded that all options that involve developing greenfield sites are unaffordable and should now be discounted.

They have, however, shown clearly that both The Princess Royal Hospital and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites have viable futures and will play an important part in on-going NHS Future Fit work.

The shortlist has therefore now been reduced from the original six options to four.

These are:

Princess Royal Telford

A No change
B Emergency Centre, Urgent Care Centre, Local Planned Care, Consultant-led Obstetrics
C1 Diagnostic & Treatment Centre, Urgent Care, Local Planned Care
C2 Diagnostic & Treatment Centre, Urgent Care Centre, Local Planned Care, Consultant-led Obstetrics

Royal Shrewsbury Hospital

A No Change
B Diagnostic & Treatment Centre, Urgent Care Centre, Local Planned Care
C1 Emergency Centre, Urgent Care Centre, Local Planned Care, Consultant-led Obstetrics
C2 Emergency Centre, Urgent Care Centre, Local Planned Care

All options would see both sites with an Urgent Care Centre and local planned care.

David Evans, Chief Officer of Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group and Caron Morton, Accountable Officer for Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group welcomed the decision.

They said: "Since February an immense amount of work has gone into studying the affordability of the shortlisted scenarios.

"This has now made it clear that all options involving greenfield sites are unaffordable.

"We need to acknowledge this is regrettable as we know it is what many people would have preferred.

"We have always known that the greenfield option was going to be the most expensive and we have done everything possible to see whether we could make this an affordable option.

"However, we have been forced to the conclusion that it would mean diverting an unacceptable level of funding from other frontline clinical services like primary, community or mental health care."

They added: "We do now have clear options that we can proceed with and which can meet the key clinical goals of NHS Future Fit – that is to provide safe, modern and sustainable access to emergency, urgent, planned and community care for our populations.

"They also show quite clearly that both the Princess Royal and Royal Shrewsbury Hospital sites have an important future and will play a key role as NHS Future Fit moves forward.

"There is still a lot of work to do before we consider whether the NHS Future Fit programme board recommends which site would be ideal for the Emergency Centre or the Diagnostic and Treatment Centre.

"We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this process so far."

Today's recommendation will now be considered by the local NHS organisations that have come together to lead the NHS Future Fit programme.

Work is also continuing in partnership with local communities on developing options for Urgent Care Centres in rural Shropshire; with five sites currently being considered – Ludlow, Oswestry, Bridgnorth, Bishops Castle and Whitchurch.

Urgent Care Centres would also be established at the Princess Royal and Royal Shrewsbury Hospitals.

Both Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin and Healthwatch Shropshire are working with NHS Future Fit in order to ensure patient views from across Shropshire/Telford & Wrekin are properly considered.

Kate Ballinger, Manager, Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin said: "Healthwatch is the independent consumer voice in England and both local Healthwatch organisations are engaging with the public to make sure that people know what is happening.

"There are many ways of making your voice heard, Healthwatch want to make sure that voice is listened to."

You can contact Healthwatch Telford & Wrekin on 01952 739540 or by email info@healthwatchtelfordandwrekin.org.uk
