Just got this from Joules MD Steve Nuttal via facebook.
It has some plans showing elements of the refurbishment, but they can be seen on the Planning Application.
Most of you will be aware that The Talbot has now closed. We wish Jess and Tony well for the future.
We have taken the decision to invest in the Dog in a material way. It was always our intention to encourage our landlords to run a simple, attractively priced food offer, sourcing locally. Producing simple and tasty classic pub food in an environment that is warm and convivial representing the village. The pub, whilst not being in poor shape, could do with some polish and warmth. Our view is that we must first address this before were appoint a landlord who can deliver the vision. For this reason we will over the coming months be refurbishing the interior, we will be using traditional materials, real leather, quarry tiles, stone, a new oak bar top to replace the laminate as well as a few quality touches. I will be at an auction this weekend in the hope of acquiring a couple of original oil paintings which will be perfect. I also have a Georgian grandfather clock earmarked to add a reassuring tick tock in the corner.
Eddie and Chris are our site foremen and will be on site shortly, please do feel free to pop in if you are passing and take a look at progress, my team are very proud of what they do and always happy to talk about the project.
Please also feel free to call Me. I will be running the project, my number is 07730 979276. We are wholeheartedly committed to bringing the best out of this wonderful village pub, whilst the plan has not quite gone to plan since we bought the pub last year, then it has only made us all more determined to deliver a wonderful village pub for the Ruyton XI towns.
Finally we will also be converting the stables to provide a flexible space for small gatherings, the odd beer festival, and crucially of Sunday lunch which will be a centre piece of the new pub. Plans are included here. We also hope that the space may be useful to the community as a whole for various purposes, clubs to after school groups, to fundraisers. Our aspiration is that the stables will all contribute to bringing the Dog to the heart of the village.
I will pre empt the question on time, my approach is to do the best we can and that takes as long as it takes., at this stage then the timing is open, I would think around 3 months, but it may be 4. My intention is to post a weekly update on Facebook to keep everyone informed on progress.
Look forward to hearing from you Folks,
Steve
