Loton Park Drivers' School
Supported by TTC Group Loton Park Drivers School 2014
14th May, 9th July, 6th August
Whether you are a member of the public who wishes to learn how to approach the handling potential of a road-going car, or a seasoned competitor looking for the refinements necessary to achieve a quicker time up the hill climb, Loton Park Drivers’ School is for you. This applies to anyone who is 16 years old or over.
Highly experienced instructors will guide you through the demands of every corner on this very technical track. After an accompanied walk up the hill with every entry, apex and exit marked on each corner, you will be given a ride with an Instructor to emphasise the need for a smooth flowing approach. You will then be let loose in your road-going car for a number of individual runs. These will be observed and recorded and an Instructor will be available in the Paddock, primarily to advise on your car set-up, tyre pressures etc., but also ready with immediate suggestions on how to improve your line. There will be a break for a splendid two course lunch which will be followed by an in-depth analysis of your runs from the videos available. After this there will be more individual runs during which you will be able to put in to practice the suggested improvements. At the end of these there will be light refreshments followed by further analysis of your driving skills based upon Instructors observation and video evidence. The day will culminate in the award of individual certificates and two prizes, one for the best driver on the day and the second for the most improved over the day.
Feedback from the three previous years has continuously emphasised that, no matter what your driving skills, everyone who takes part in Loton Park Drivers’ School learns something to their advantage. This is true whether you are using a prized exotic car or the family runabout and is also borne out by the number of participants who return for another day. As is usual at Loton Park there is always a friendly atmosphere which helps those who are taking part in a school of this type for the first time.
The only constraints are that the car you use must be road-going, proof of this will be required including a current MoT if appropriate, and must be silenced to road-going standards to protect the environment for the villagers. For your own safety you will be required to wear a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers and a crash helmet. If you do not own the latter we have crash helmets available on loan.
The cost is £180 per person per school day. Guests may accompany you at a cost of £20 which includes lunch and refreshments. For National B licence holders wishing to have a signature for upgrading their licence there is a basic written exam to be taken at an additional cost of £50.
