Wishing all of our customers
A Very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

Thank you for all your support this year
and we hope to see you again in 2016

2015 has been the first full year in our new venue at 9 Arthur Street
and what a fantastic year!
We have hosted 164 events including films, live broadcasts & live theatre events and to date have welcomed 11,843 visitors to our little community cinema.

None of this could happen without the support from our wonderful band of volunteer stewards, so a huge thank you to them all!

The January newsletter will be out soon but in the mean time here is a little taster of what will be coming next month:

We start the New Year off with a one off special screening of
'Back To The Future Part II' and our Ghost Story for the Festive Season
'Crimson Peak'.

Throughout January we have a great range of films on offer from the stunning climate change documentary 'Ice And The Sky', to award winning films 'Brooklyn' and 'Carol' alongside some wonderful independent productions including 'The Lobster' and 'Radiator'.

And as a special mid winter treat for all the family we have our next Arts Alive event: Box Tale Soup puppet company's performance of 'Alice's Adventures In Wonderland'.

Information & booking links for all our events currently on sale can be found here:

Ticket prices for normal film screenings are £6.00 Adult/£4.00 Under 16's.

As we were unable to screen this on Back To The Future Day (21st October 2015) we have popped it in as a one off New Year treat.

Getting back was only the beginning as the most spectacular time-travel adventure ever continues in Back to the Future Part II — the sequel that proves that lightning can strike twice!

Picking up precisely where they left off, Marty and Doc (Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd) launch themselves to the year 2015 to fine-tune the future and inadvertently disrupt the space-time continuum. Now, their only chance to fix the present is by going back to 1955 all over again before it is too late.

From Academy Award®-winning filmmakers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis, Back to the Future Part II proves true excitement is timeless.

Directer: Robert Zemeckis

Starring: Michael J. Fox; Christopher Lloyd; Mary Steenburgen; Lea Thompson; Thomas F.Wilson; Elisabeth Shue

TUESDAY 19TH JANUARY 2016           7.00pm (for 7.30pm start)
at Booka

Looking for a cracking crime read? - then join us for an evening with Fiona Barton as she talks about The Widow her new psychological thriller, and one of the most anticipated debut novels of 2016.

The Widow is the story of a devoted wife whose husband is accused of a terrible crime. Jean Taylor's life was blissfully ordinary. Nice house, nice husband. Glen was all she'd ever wanted: her Prince Charming. Until he became that man accused, that monster on the front page of every newspaper. Jean was married to a man everyone thought capable of unimaginable evil. But now Glen is dead and she's alone for the first time, free to tell her story on her own terms. Jean Taylor is going to tell us what she knows....

A book with many talking points, drawing comparisons with Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, The Widow is published on 14th January. We are delighted to welcome Fiona to Oswestry to kick off our 2016 programme of events.

Tickets: £5 (redeemable against book purchase). Includes a glass of wine / soft drink on arrival.

Please book in advance. For tickets, call in at the shop or book online via our Eventbrite page.

We're chuffed to bits with our new Oswestry Landmarks Tea Towel - designed for us by Terri & Tim. Screen printed on 100% cotton and hemmed on two sides, it's printed locally in Welshpool. Priced £10, it comes in a labelled kraft tube and makes a perfect gift.

12 Noon (for 12.30pm start)
The Dining Rooms, Oswestry

We're thrilled that Ruby Wax is coming to town in January to talk about her new book, A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled. She will be interviewed at this sell out event by author & journalist Cathy Rentzenbrink.

Ruby will also be helping the OsLitFest team launch the programme for the 7th Oswestry LitFest which will take place from 17th-20th March. Programmes and LitFest event tickets will be available for purchase from the Box Office at Booka and online after the launch.

If you would like a signed copy of A Mindfulness Guide for the Frazzled, please let us know.

TUESDAY 9TH FEBRUARY           7.00pm (for 7.30pm start) at Booka

Join us for an evening full of 80's nostalgia as Julia Forster visits Booka to talk about her debut novel, What a Way to Go.
1988. 12-year-old Harper Richardson's parents are divorced. Her mum got custody of her, the Mini, and five hundred tins of baked beans. Her dad got a mouldering cottage in a Midlands backwater village and default membership of the Lone Rangers single parents' club. Harper got questionable dress sense, a zest for life, two gerbils, and her Chambers dictionary, and the responsibility of fixing her parents' broken hearts...
Set against a backdrop of high hairdos and higher interest rates, pop music and puberty, divorce and death, What a Way to Go is a warm, wise and witty tale of one girl tackling the business of growing up while those around her try not to fall apart. It's a brilliant exploration of the journey from teenager to adult and a wonderful evocation of Britain in the eighties.

Tickets: £5 (redeemable against book purchase). Includes a glass of wine / soft drink on arrival.

Please book in advance. For tickets, call in at the shop or book online via our Eventbrite page.
