With Christmas just a few days away we wanted to send you our very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and to thank you for your support this past year. 2015 has been a great year for the Gallery, Craft Shop and Eatery and we are now getting ready for the New Year – with plans including Workshops through to Music Evenings and of course our regular Exhibitions which showcase the work of many local and national artists. Our New Year Open Exhibition opens on January 23rd (running for 5 weeks).

We will be closed from 1pm Christmas Eve and over the Christmas holidays, as of January 6th both the Gallery and the Eatery will be open from 9.30 am – 5 pm.

New Year Open Exhibition
Our New Year Open is open to all media and subject matter. Artists can submit a single piece or a series of works. Deadline for submission application is Saturday 16th January, please contact the gallery by email for an application pack.

Art Courses and Workshops
In 2016 our courses start in February and vary from day long workshops through to weekly sessions.  All take place in the Gallery's Dunbabin Room. If you would like to book or reserve a place (reservations can only be accepted with full payment or a £10 non-refundable deposit), please call in, phone us (01691 657575) or visit us at the gallery.

Exploring the Scottish Colourists with Leo Donaghy
A regular favourite with the Willow Gallery Team, Leo will be running his course 'Exploring the Scottish Colourists'.  This starts on February 4thth and runs for 4 weeks from 9.30 am to 1.00pm. £80
This course explores the colour and techniques of this small group of Scottish painters who spent time with the impressionists in France. They brought back to Scotland practices that would have a formative influence on the subsequent Scottish art movements. Their fluid handling of paint and colour has its roots in the works of the Fauves and post impressionists. A list of requirements for the course will be sent prior to the start date.

Tutor of the Year, Aberystwyth lifelong learning.
 
Tereska will again by running her very popular courses ( via Aberystwyth University), this year starting on February 8th with a 4 session  course 'Natural History Illustration – Birds and Mammals' and 'Seaweed Illustration', a weekend course running on 20th and 21st February.
Birds and Mammals.  Feb 8th, 22nd, 7th March, 11th April. This practical drawing and painting course is ideal for anyone undertaking field studies and art courses and wishing to develop their observational and recording skills.  It will cover a wide variety of technique needed to depict different bird and mammal forms.  The work of historical and contemporary Natural History Illustrators and Naturalists will also be discussed.
£100 (£80 concessions)
Seaweed Illustrations'  This exciting new course will cover specialist watercolour  and drawing techniques and materials used for capturing a wide variety of seaweed types; techniques and skills that are transferable to many subject matters.

Feltmaking Landscapes with Susan Mulcock



Feltmaker Susan will be offering a one day course on February 27th – 'Winter Landscapes'. This runs from 10 – 4pm. £45 including materials. Sue's work is often on display in the Gallery.
Experimenting with various fibres and inlays to create the basis of a winter scene in felt – Just bring in a favourite photograph, scene or picture to work from to produce your own felted picture.
 
Music Evenings and Workshops
We are delighted to announce that Jamie Smith's Mabon's 2016 'The Space Between' Tour will be playing at the Willow Gallery on 2nd March, 8.00pm.  Doors open 7.00pm. Tickets are selling fast for one of the Willow's favourite bands.  £12 (Children £6)

Jamie Smith's MABON are Wales' finest purveyors of original InterCeltic  music.



As comfortable on a world music stage as in a folk setting, theirs is a music that travels beyond borders to explore the forms and styles of the Celtic traditions and work them anew. Through songs and melodies, from thoughtful lyrics to joyful jigs, graceful mazurkas to ecstatic muñera, here is a band that can take you on an emotional journey.
More than just a show, more than inspired composition and skilful arrangement, you can expect to witness the joy of creating music expressed in dynamic, virtuosic performance.

Folk, Fiddle, Flute & Mandolin. Evening classes begin February 23rd.  Session of 4 £30

Yoga at the Willow
