To contact us, please click here Follow us on Twitter @ShropTogether Visit the Shropshire Together website Shropshire Together Christmas event Last weekend health and care organisations in Shropshire joined together at the Shrewsbury Christmas event in The Quarry. Under the 'Shropshire Together' banner, organisations were on hand to provide free health and wellbeing advice. The team had a smoothie bike, which visitors could try for free and have a go at pedaling their own 'Berry Christmas' smoothie. Click here to read more. People with learning disabilities urged to get their flu vaccination People with learning disabilities in Shropshire, and Telford and Wrekin, are being encouraged to get their flu vaccination if they've been contacted by their GP. It is estimated there are 1.2 million people in England that have a learning disability, many of whom also have long term conditions such as respiratory problems. This makes them at risk of complications should they contract flu. The vaccination is free to anyone that needs it, and is available at local GP surgeries and at some pharmacists. Huge response to Big Conversation so far Shropshire Council's Big Conversation has drawn a huge response from local residents and organisations, with more than 1,000 people taking part in the Big Conversation survey since it launched on 17 November 2015. So far people from every age, town and background have responded to the online and on-street surveys. The Big Conversation survey is the first phase of a five-year conversation the council wants to have with Shropshire people to ask them what council services are most important to them, and what they can do to help and make the remaining resources it has go further. If you work within Early Years settings (childminder, pre-school or nursery), schools or a GP practice then come along to this free event. You are  invited to a discussion forum focussing on Strengthening Families through Early Help. The forum will discuss:- Strengthening Families through Early Help – From Strategy to Reality The Role of Compass Information Sharing Processes Working together and role of front line workers 'How to Energize Your Workplace' – Conference, 28th January 2016 Energize Shropshire Telford and Wrekin will host a half day conference on Thursday 28 January on how to energize your workplace. The conference will be a 'one-stop shop' for businesses and organisations interested in support and local offers to improve the health and wellbeing of their employees. Help2Change publishes report on mental health and wellbeing briefings Help2Change is pleased to publish a report that summarises a series of special briefings on Mental Health and Wellbeing held for elected members in Shropshire between October 2014 and June 2015. The briefings were conceived as a means to raise awareness of the importance and impact of mental health and wellbeing on the lives of individuals and whole communities. Shropshire Council will once again be supporting Alcohol Concern's 'Dry January' campaign We are looking for some individuals to be Dry January champions, to help raise awareness of the campaign and the effects of alcohol. Can you give up the booze for 31 days? If you're up for the challenge, then please get in touch. We are hoping to be able to run blogs and updates from those taking part, as these proved popular in last year's campaign. As well as raising awareness, it's a chance to make the most of the health benefits from going alcohol-free and possibly losing some pounds as well as saving them!
