Dear Blogger
Message from Lydia Bardsley, Parish Clerk, Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council.
Casual Vacancies at Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council
Following the resignation of Cllr Bob Edwards, there is now a new casual vacancy at Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council. Please see attached Casual Vacancy notice for more information. Local electors may choose to request a by-election to fill this seat until the end of the 14-day notice period, which ends on 29.10.2020.
We are currently waiting to hear back from Shropshire Council whether an election has been called for Cllr Hall's vacancy (the 14-day notice period ended on 08.10.2020).
If an election is called for either/both of these vacancies then it is currently expected that this will take place as part of the normal 4-yearly Local Council elections in May 2021, i.e. no separate by-election will take place before May and the seat(s) will remain vacant until then.
If no election has been called for vacancies during their respective notice periods, then the Parish Council shall co-opt to fill the seat(s). If your are interested in potentially joining the Parish Council, please contact the clerk for an informal chat.
Welcome to new Parish Councillors
In related news, the Parish Council is very pleased to announce that 3 of the existing casual vacancies were filled by co-option at the October Council meeting. Your new parish councillors are Graeme Barrett, Christine Jones, and Mervyn Eyles, and we will be updating the Parish Councillor page of our website with their information and contact details shortly. In the meantime, we wish them all a very warm welcome to the Parish Council.
Kind regards,
Lydia Bardsley
Clerk to Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council
