Dear Blogger,
Message from Whittington Music Festival
The programme for the 2024 festival is now on the website https://www.whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk/festival-programme/ The festival opens on Thursday May 16 with a concert including the iconic Four Seasons by Vivaldi, and other baroque delights. The other concerts offer a wide variety of music. Don't miss the world premiere of a song cycle for voice, flute, piano and string quartet specially written for us by Jeremy Sams, our composer in residence. | | | We are delighted that Braimah Kanneh-Mason, violinist and brother of the well-known Sheku, will be with us for the whole festival. He joins 14 other established and emerging stars, some of whom you will recognise from previous festivals. | | | Tickets Ticket prices are essentially unchanged. The Saturday afternoon concert combines the Family concert with jazz from pianist Zoe Rahman and flautist Rowland Sutherland, price £15. Tickets for the main concerts are still £19 online, from Rowanthorn or on the door. Festival passes will be available at £76, a saving of £15 on all five concerts. | | | Renew online If you have been thinking of renewing your Friends' subscription, you can now do this entirely online if you make a single payment. If you prefer to pay monthly, you will need to download the application form and contact the Friends' secretary, Pam Parish, to arrange this. | | | Next chairman? The chairman of trustees will stand down in June 2024, so we are seeking a good listener with experience of chairing meetings to take over. The role is interesting and should only require between five and ten hours' work a month, including meetings. There are currently eight enthusiastic and committed trustees, and financial risk is negligible as the trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Two references will be required, and the successful applicant will be able to shadow the current chairman for the remainder of his tenure.
