Dear Blogger
Film & Oswestry new cinema news
First things first.... We know you're excited about news of Maona Art reopening the old Kinokulture cinema, with many questions being asked of us at the OFS. We have met the proprietor, Tatenda Jamera, and have been impressed by his drive to get things moving. He will be our guest at a future OFS screening at the Hermon, when he'll be able to give more of an insight. First and foremost though is the question - When? There are still some official bits and bobs to sort out, but Tatenda tells us the opening will be "sooner rather than later." We'll keep you updated. In the meantime, please continue to support the Oswestry Film Society on our Wednesday nights at the Hermon. We have some great films coming up, with the next two... THIS WED, FEB 5: SIGHTSEERS (15) - Superb example of British dark humour. Dorky couple Chris and Tina embark on a caravan tour across the UK. Chris has a short fuse for every-day annoyances: you see a guy littering, you run him over! FEB 12: THE OUTRUN (15) - After a decade of riotous living in London, 29 year old Rona (Saiorese Ronan) returns home to the Orkney Islands where she slowly finds hope and strength to rebuild her life. All films start 7.30pm. Tickets £8. More details and info via www.oswestryfilmsociety.com – all films shown at the Hermon Chapel Arts Centre, Chapel St, Oswestry SY11 1LF. The venue has a licensed cafĂ©-bar and is fully accessible. | | | |
