Oxon hospital park & ride timetable

Dear Blogger

Someone has asked when the Oxon hospital park and ride finishes running, so I have downloaded the timetable -

OXON PARK & RIDE TO ROYAL SHREWSBURY HOSPITAL BUS SERVICE TIMETABLE

As a result of a successful trial, patients and visitors will have full access to the Park & Ride service for a small charge of £1, from Monday 19 May 2025.

The bus service, runs every 15/20 minutes from the car park at Oxon Park & Ride to the Treatment Centre to the new main entrance of the hospital. Oxon Park & Ride is located behind the Bicton Heath Co-operative. From the Shrewsbury bypass, turn on to the Welshpool Road heading towards Redwoods Hospital, turn left at the junction directly after the traffic lights and continue towards the signposted Park & Ride. The nearest postcode is SY3 5AD (Bicton Heath Retail Park, Shrewsbury).

There is also a walking route from the car park to the hospital which takes approximately 20 minutes.

Oxon Park and Ride bus service to Shrewsbury hospital - brilliant!

Dear Blogger

PARK & RIDE TO SHREWSBURY HOSPITAL

We have had to visit Shrewsbury hospital a couple of times in the last two weeks, as you do when you are as ancient as we are.

Two weeks ago I dropped Roger off at the Treatment Centre and just drove straight out, with all the building going on I could not see there was a cat in hell`s chance of finding a parking place. So I turned left, up to Roman Road over the roundabout and down past the big pub and turned left and then right and parked outside one of the houses - probably halfway to Frankwell roundabout!

Yesterday we caught the hospital bus from Oxon Park and Ride, paid £2 for the return journey for 2 to the hospital. We were dropped outside the Treatment Centre and later returned to a waiting bus and back to Oxon.

What a dream, please make use of this fairly new facility, running every 10 minutes and shared between NHS staff and patients.

Winter Concert

Our first winter concert of the year takes place on Saturday 1st November at 7pm in Whittington Church.
The Scholars and Gentlemen conducted by Mike Donkin will be singing secular and sacred music by Monteverdi. There's an interval and a bar. To avoid a fine if you are parking at the Whittington Castle car park, pay at the ticket machine (card only), online or by phone. Remember to bring a cushion.
Festival News

Programme details for the 2026 festival are almost ready to release. There are some very exciting highlights: Schubert's Trout Quintet, Bach's Goldberg Variations in a unique arrangement which will have you on the edge of your seat, the gorgeous Finzi Bagatelles for clarinet and string quartet, and two innovative arrangements of well-known Poulenc works by composer-in-residence Jeremy Sams.
We are thrilled that the wonderful Far Flung Trio will be returning, as will Trio Archai who played the Mendelssohn Piano Trio so movingly this year.
A new Festival Chef

We have been extremely fortunate to secure the services of Ali Waldegrave as chef for 2026. Ali has cooked at many festivals and events including IMS Prussia Cove and the Lewes music festival, so we are delighted to welcome her to Whittington.
Call for Sponsors

If you would like to sponsor one of the concerts please do get in touch by email to chair@whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk
