Our Parish Council has been asked to consider spending public money on two items that are simply to avoid problems caused by anti-social behaviour by locals.
First is a request to erect a fence round the children's play equipment on the field. This wouldn't be required if dog-owners took a bit more responsibility for their pets.
Second is a request for large stones to be installed to protect the grass from being turned to mud by the car park in the field - apparently by local drivers saving 3m off the distance they have to drive.
Obviously Councillors will consider these requests at the meeting on Monday, but surely at a time when public money is tight it is frustrating to have to spend it on things that are only required because of irresponsible local people. Who are the people who are causing us to consider spending this money? Quite apart from the disgusting dog mess and mud in our field.
Do we have to consider photographs and naming and shaming? Or can offenders change their behaviour NOW?
I stress that these are my personal views - Council will consider all opinions on Monday.
But I am fed up that between us we have failed to get these simple things sorted! Colin Case Tel: +44 1939 260 628 Mob: +44 7860 904 006 VOIP: +44 1939 328 243 |
