Subject: Road Scheme Notification - A5 Sandford to Wolfshead Resurfacing
Dear all,
I am writing to inform you about resurfacing works that are due to commence in your area. These works were originally supposed to begin 4 July but had to be delayed. Details of the works and associated traffic restrictions and diversion routes are as follows:
Planned Start Date: 11 July 2016, originally 4 July 2016
Planned Completion Date: 16 July 2016
Hours of work: 20:00 to 0600.
These dates are subject to change, dependent on weather conditions. However, we can assure you, that you will be kept fully informed of any amendments to the works schedule.
Traffic Restrictions
The northbound closure will be from A5 Wolfshead Roundabout to its Queens Head Junction
The southbound closure will be from Queens Head Junction to Wolfshead Roundabout
A5 southbound lay‐by 330m south of Queens Head Junction will be closed
A5 northbound lay‐by 115m north of Holyhead Road will be closed
Outer circulatory lane restriction on northern half of Wolfshead roundabout to allow resurfacing works extend to giveway line on southbound approach to roundabout.
Local authority side road restictions; Access to A5 prevented from; Holyhead Road, Unnamed road (600m north of Gamester's Lane), Gamester's Lane, Long Oak (380m south of Gamester's Lane), B4397 East of A5, B4397 West of A5, Unnamed Road East of A5 (642m north of Wolfshead Roundabout) and Unnamed Road West of A5 (632m north of Wolfshead).
Access through the full closure will be permitted for emergency services and for access to frontages.

HIGHWAYS ENGLAND DIVERSION ROUTES
A5 northbound closure between Wolfshead Roundabout and Queens Head Junction
A5 traffic is to travel south from Wolfshead roundabout, traffic are to navigate onto the A458 at Churncote Roundabout. Traffic is to continue to West before heading North on the A483 to Mile End Roundabout where traffic can continue on their journey.
A5 southbound closure between Queens Head Junction and Wolfshead Roundabout
A5 traffic is to travel North on the A5 from the Queens Head junction to Mile End Roundabout. At this junction traffic is to navigating South on the A483 from Mile End roundabout (advance signing on approach to Mile End
Roundabout). At the roundabout junction with the A458 traffic is to navigate East on the A458 to Churncote roundabout where traffic can continue on their journey.
LOCAL AUTHORITY DIVERSION ROUTES
Phase 1 ‐ A5 closed between Wolfshead Roundabout and Shottaton Cross Roads (inclusive of B4397 junction)
Local traffic traveling north is to be diverted along the B4397 to the B4396, which leads to Llynclys. Traffic is to continue north on the A483 to Mile End roundabout. Traffic also traveling north from the east of the B4397 is to follow the B4397 before navigating north onto the A528. At Ellesmere traffic is travel West on the A495 to Whittington. Traffic will be then directed to travel south on the B5009 to the Queen's Head Junction and re‐join the A5. Southbound traffic can follow the diversion routes in reverse. Side road accesses outside the works extents can merge and travel North on the A5 to join the diversion routes from the Queen's Head junction.
Phase 2 ‐ A5 closed between Wolfshead Roundabout and Shottaton Cross Roads (access across B4397 junction maintained)
Local traffic traveling north is to be diverted along the B4397 to the B4396 to Llynclys. Traffic is to continue north on the A483 to Mile End roundabout. Southbound traffic can follow the diversion route in reverse. Side road accesses outside the works extents can merge and travel North on the A5 to join the diversion routes from the Queen's Head junction.
Phase 3 ‐ A5 closed between Wolfshead Roundabout and Shottaton Cross Roads (access across B4397 junction maintained)
Local traffic traveling north is to be diverted along the B4397 to the B4396 to Llynclys. Traffic is to continue North on the A483 to Mile End roundabout. Southbound traffic can follow the diversion route in reverse. Side road access at Holyhead Road can merge and travel North on the A5 to join the diversion routes from the Queen's Head junction when works are not in the vicinity of the junction. However, when works are to be carried out across the junction local traffic is to be diverted north along Holyhead Road to Queen's Head junction where traffic can re‐join the diversion route.
Gatemen will be used at closure points to manage side road access points within closure extents and escort residents to properties within the closure.
