Welcome

This is the June 2016 edition of the NHS Future Fit newsletter. These bulletins will now be issued monthly to keep you up to date while the programme begins to gather pace.

The Latest

June has seen lots of debate about the future of health services in the region. We've heard from a number of key consultants from The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) on why it's so important to have one Emergency Centre and two urban Urgent Care Centres at both the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and how this model of care can provide better clinical outcomes for patients. More information on SaTH's recent newsletter is available further down.

The NHS Future Fit Programme Board Meeting also took place in June, further information on the meeting is below.

Look out for more engagement events coming up next month, these have been organised to coincide with Health Information Week (4-10 July). The NHS Future Fit pop up stand will visit each of the six Shropshire libraries, giving you the opportunity to find out more about recent developments and to hear your views. More information further down.

More and more people have been talking to us on social media. Our NHS Future Fit Facebook and Twitter pages have been regularly posting updates to our followers, allowing people to discuss and feedback on proposals. We also share or retweet useful general health messages. You can link up with these pages using the links further on this newsletter.

Also in this edition you can read more about our recent pop up stand at Llanidloes Community Centre which was part of the Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative event. and you can find out more about how to deal with common summer health issues and also what is coming up in the month ahead.

The NHS Future Fit Programme Board

The NHS Future Fit programme board met this month and discussed a number of pieces of work that are moving forward. Work has been ongoing with partners to develop the Hospital's Sustainable Services Plan. The programme team have been looking at models of community care that would support the Strategic Outline Case (SOC) as well as continuing conversations with local GPs and primary care providers.

The board also heard about proposals to develop rural urgent care services; more recently there have been developments around point of care testing which allows patients to have certain tests that normally take place in hospital nearer to where they live. You can find out more information about this on the Shropshire CCG website
