Whittington Castle CORRECTION!

Idiot that I am - NOT THIS WEEKEND BUT 5th TO 7th MAY  
  
                THE NORMANS ARE COMING!!

                                To your local Medieval Castle
                           5th-7th May, Bank Holiday weekend


Whittington
Castle
will be invaded by over 100 Norman Re-enactors at its
annual large Re-enactment event which takes place 5th-7th May 2012.
Historia Normannis are a group of ex students who met at University and who
now provide a truly authentic experience of life as a Norman

     Living History encampment with cooking and domestic demonstrations throughout the weekend. 
    Have a Go Archery, battle re-enactments as well as combat displays. 

This year the group promise to lay siege to the Castle with siege
engine as well as rocks and ladders. 
    For the first time we have a Re-enactment Medieval Market, Hog Roast and Craft stalls.                                                        


Each day the event will open at 10 am and finish at 4pm.  The entrance fee
is £2 per person.  Parking available and refreshments on site.  For more

Draft Programme for Event

 

 1) Shire court hearing (11:00am)
 2) First combat (12:00pm)
 3) Norman Fashion show (1:00pm)
 4) Norman Cooking Show (2:00pm)
 5) Second main combat display (3:00pm)
 6) Mythbusters and 'Conroi A' combat display followed by Tourney fighting 'till close (4:00pm-onwards arena)
 
There will be have-a-go archery and rolling demos of other crafts throughout the day.

This is a major event for the Castle to raise funds to keep the Castle sustainable for future generations
