If anyone would like to send a message or card, I can print and deliver it to Ann.
Many of you will remember Ann as a supporter of many organisations in the village before she became unwell and confined to the house.
When she retired from keeping a specialist food shop in Purbright, Surrey, Ann came back to her roots - her grandfather Dr. Edward Hugh Sankey, ran the `Institute for Bewildered Gentry` (my words) at Boreatton Park from 1884 until 1934.
She threw herself into life in the village and will be remembered by Roger and me for serving teas at our garden open days at Brownhill House. She also accompanied us and other friends on the Brownhill at our regular visits to the dear old Bridge Inn - not even phased by the noise, smoke and eccentric behaviour of the PGL staff (who we all miss so much).
Ann was involved with the preparations for all the events to do with the village celebration the 700th anniversary of the granting of the Borough Charter - remembr her in the WRNS uniform explaining WW2 memorabilia displayed in the church porch in 1995! She was in the appropriate fancy dress for all our events and presided over the Victorian evening as the Queen herself.
Selling raffle tickets was Ann`s forte, refridgerators to Eskimos was not in it.
Ann has been a pillar of not only Pradoe church but also the Broadplace, she even used her computer to write her life story, the highlight of which has always been supporting the Born Free Foundation since she spent time with George Adamson and his lions in Kenya.
So many older people, past and present will be grateful for the time Ann took to ferry them to and from the surgery or to hospital.
Ann was also a great supporter of the Derwen College at Gobowen and was a member of the friends committee.
I am sorry that being confined to her cottage has meant many new people in the village may not know her but we hope that we shall see her around in the village again.
If anyone would like to send a message or card, I can print and deliver it to Ann.
