Poisonous to dogs!

Message from Steve Boulding, Stanwardine.

Steve has reminded us that the chemical xylitol is poisonous to dogs.

This is an artificial sweetener which is used a lot in chewing gum, confectionary, cakes, biscuits and soft drinks etc. because it reduces the amount of sugar added to such products and therefore tooth decay and obesity and so on.  Food items containing this chemical are highly toxic to dogs.

So, I would urge folk to read the ingrediets of everything they buy even more carefully and if they have a dog, to avoid anything containing xylitol like the plague.
