Oswestry Family and Local History volunteers run a twice-weekly advice service at Oswestry Library. Teams of trained, knowledgeable volunteers work alongside library staff to help both newcomers and experienced researchers to get the most from the expanded range of resources available. No booking required, just drop in.
One on One computer help at the library!
Did you know that we have a team of volunteers who provide one on one IT support for customers at the library? They will sit with you, either using your own device or one of our library computers, and help you to work through whatever issue it is you're having, be it setting up an email address, or learning to navigate your first smartphone. The support is completely free, but MUST be pre-booked as volunteers are available by appointment only. At present, bookable sessions are available each week on a Tuesday morning, Wednesday all day, and Friday morning. Ask staff to book your place.
Hearing Aid Clinic
Wednesday 3 July 10-12noon
Hearing aid clinic run by NHS trained volunteers. Drop in to have your hearing aid cleaned and serviced. No booking required.
Chess Club
Every Wednesday 1-3pm from 24 July
Come along and play chess! All ages and abilities welcome, help will be on hand.
Lego Club
Thursday 4, 11, 18, 25 July, 3.30-4.30pm
Saturday 6, 13, 20, 27 July 11-2pm
Free drop in session to play with Lego in the library! Self-guided activity, parental supervision required.
Rhymetime at the library!

Half an hour of rhymes and singing for under five. Free, no need to book!
Books Aloud- We read, you relax.
Tuesday 9, 23 July, 2-3pm
Looking for a daytime group with a difference? Drop in, pull up a chair and listen to great stories and poems for adults read aloud by library staff and volunteers.

Summer Reading Challenge 2019: Space Chase!
Saturday 13 July
The launch of the annual Summer Reading Challenge 2019! This yearÆs theme is Space Chase. Read six books of your choice over the summer and win prizes, with a medal and certificate if you complete. Challenges available for pre-schoolers, teens and adults so all the family can join in. Keep an eye out for some awesome childrenÆs events at the library over the summer, but sign up quick, as places go fast!
Dungeons & Dragons at the Library

Thursday 18 July 12.30-1.30pm
Dave Andrews, Reader/Writer in Residence at Oswestry Library, leads a discussion on a subject which troubles many of us. Though he will be starting off the discussion, Dave stresses that heÆs very keen to hear othersÆ points of view. The session will explore issues such as freedom of the press, freedom of speech and the impact of social media. ú3 per person, please book.

Knit for Life

Knit for Life is a local knitting charity supporting direct aid distributions of knitting to many countries around the world. We mostly make blanket squares, hats and toys and sew together squares to make blankets.
