An opportunity to break into Amateur Dramatics in later life

Dear Blogger

Message from Pam Johnson, Trefonen. - CONTACT:-  PamJohnson.99@googlemail.com

While continuing to be a member and supporter of the LADS I feel the time is right for me to set up a new theatre project.

I wish to explore some new ideas, new venues, different ways of working and offer opportunities to anyone not involved in a production elsewhere.  There will not be a fixed base.

I will be working under the name of STAGE FIVE.  Why?

An allusion to the fifth stage of life in the ôAll the WorldÆs a Stageö speech from As You Like It û the æolderÆ person.

I am one of those and there are many of us to whom I hope to offer, though not exclusively, chances to take part in various productions/events.

This feels like the fifth stage in my drama journey.

I canÆt find another company called that which is handy!

If you would like to be on my mailing list please be so kind as to reply to this email û just saying Yes or No will suffice.

If I do not receive a response I will assume that you do not wish to be on the list.

The first production will be in 2020.  Exciting times!

Art Exhibition by Jon Young

Dear Blogger

Message from Ali Tickner, Eardiston

Art in the Long Room

North Shropshire artist Jon Young, from near West Felton, is delighted to be working in partnership with Oswestry School this term to provide the backdrop for a school social evening.

Jon has returned to his love of acrylic on canvas after years of working in education and his artwork has been sold across the UK from the Highlands to the south east. He has had solo exhibitions at many venues locally, including this summerÆs visually stunning ôArt in the Barnö at The Sweeney, as well as further afield in Chester and Shrewsbury.

The exhibition in the glorious space of The Long Room, will comprise JonÆs collection of vivid, eye-catching seascapes from around Wales as well as further afield, dramatic landscapes, and also his beautifully crafted paintings and portraits of people. With seascapes featuring views across the Menai Straits and around the North Wales coastline JonÆs strong, colourful images will delight and impress.

Prints and cards of JonÆs artwork will also be on display and available to purchase.

The exhibition will be open to the public on the evening of 21st from 6pm. Refreshments will be provided

Dear Blogger

Message from David Sheran.

The Cliffe Crew meet tomorrow for their second work party. Come along if you can to help with the maintenance of the Cliffe and itÆs lowland heath habitat. It will probably involve clearing scrub, cutting back small colonising trees and tramping down bracken. Meet at 9am on Sunday 13 October at the Ruyton XI Towns end of the Cliffe, outside the cottages at the end of the bridleway from Little Ness Road.

Lee our Park Ranger will be in charge. Bring tools like shears, secateurs, loppers and perhaps a hot drink and snacks. The aim will be to work from 9am to noon.

Road closure at Walford

Dear Blogger

Help comes from Steve Boulding, Baschurch.

The signs, both in wording and positioning, are a bit ambiguous, but I think it will be overnight, and at an educated guess I think it will entail (if Shrewsbury bound), turning left via Old Woods, Merrington and Bomere Heath and regaining the Shrewsbury Road at Leaton or thereabouts - vice versa when coming back.

At least the temporary lights between Walford and Walford Heath guarding non-existent roadworks which never actually happened have now been removed.

Road closure at Walford - can you help?

Dear Blogger

I received this information from Gary & Karen Wann but have been unable to find out any more information.  Can anyone help with more information, such as whether this closure is daytime or overnight - it does really make a lot of difference if you use this road regularly.

There are signs either side of Walford saying that the road will be closed for 3 days from 21 October (I think that was the date?).  I can't find anything on the Shropshire.gov website.  I wonder if you have heard anything, it may just be overnight, but I didn't catch all the info on the signs.
