Weekly figures: 10-16 December There were 1,548 new cases reported between 10-16 December – a decrease of 6%. Shropshire's 7-day infection rate is now below the national and regional averages; however, it is expected cases will rise very quickly again over the Christmas and New Year period. Sadly, there were 4 further deaths in our local hospitals during this time, and 26 people were receiving hospital treatment for COVID-19. When you are meeting up with family and friends this festive season, there are things you can do to protect everyone. - Ensure you are fully vaccinated and boosted
- Take a Lateral Flow Test beforehand to check for COVID-19
- Self-isolate, and do not attend gatherings and events, if you have symptoms
- Open a window to ensure indoor areas are well ventilated
- Wear a face covering and keep a safe distance from others
These steps will help us to stay safe and slow the spread of the virus. Two doses are not enough! The booster will strengthen your protection against COVID-19, and give you the best possible defence. We want everyone to give themselves the best level of protection going into 2022.
