Whittington Music Festival Newsletter

Dear Blogger

Newsletter December 2021
Tickets for the exciting and varied 2022 festival are on general sale from January 24th.
The celebrated tenor Mark Padmore is singing on Thursday in the early evening concert, on Friday in the main concert and on Sunday afternoon.
Friends and other subscribers will be able to buy tickets from January 3rd.
If you have been intending to renew your Friends' subscription or join as a Friend in order to take advantage of this and other benefits, now is the time to do it. You will find full details and an application form here https://www.whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk/support-us-friends-scheme/.

For the first time all seats will be numbered and bookable in advance. The constraints of the ticketing system mean that it will unfortunately not be possible to buy tickets over the counter in local shops. However, there will be a helpline for anyone having difficulty navigating the online box office, and, subject to availability, tickets will be available on the door. We are expecting a full house for the three concerts at which Mark Padmore is singing.

Opportunities for volunteers
If we have your postal address you should shortly be receiving two or three trifold leaflets by post. Please spread the word by passing them on to friends and family. Please let me know if you are able to help distribute leaflets and posters to local tourist offices, shops, community centres and libraries.
Marion, our treasurer will be standing down in July so we urgently need to find someone to take on this essential role. If you are good with figures, or know anyone who is, please contact treasurermc@whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk for more information. You will be able to shadow Marion to learn what's involved and there will be a thorough induction.

Good news
Two charities, the Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust and the Fidelio Trust have shown confidence in the festival by supporting us with, respectively, grants towards the performance of On Wenlock Edge and the professional development of some of the younger musicians. The Cavatina Trust is enabling us to offer free ticket to anyone under the age of 26. See the website https://www.whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk/booking-information/ for conditions that apply to this offer.
A supporter who prefers not to be identified has very generously agreed to donate a recent legacy to the festival, which can be drawn on over the next few years, and which will help greatly in planning future festivals. More information on all aspects of leaving a legacy can be found here https://www.whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk/legacies/

Festival-goers will be able to pre-order meals and refreshments at The White Lion and The Kitchen at the Castle.
Save the date
The Scholars and Gentlemen choir will be giving a concert of Madrigals and Elizabethan song in Whittington Church on Saturday March 26th at 7:30 pm. Tickets £12. Proceeds will be shared between Whittington Music Festival and Whittington Church
With best wishes for Christmas and the New Year
