Oswestry cinema and comfort!

Dear Blogger

Film news, dates - and cushions!

We're aware of one or two concerns among our lovely audience about the seating at the Hermon Chapel Arts Centre.
Padding and upholstering it row by row is on an on-going list of improvements targeted by our welcoming hosts Jason and Karen.
The front row's been done, more will follow as time and money allow.
Unfortunately, the old box pews are part of the building's listed status, so can't simply be replaced willy-nilly.
So, feel free to bring a cushion! (A number of you used cushions as the old Kinokulture). Do please continue to support us in keeping live screenings in Oswestry.

Upcoming films - starting this week

We're a little out of synch Wednesday-wise due to pre-booked events at the Hermon, so here's what we have in July:

  • Wed July 3 - THE SESSIONS (15) - Poignant but surprisingly funny tale of a paralysed man seeking companionship and love. (Pic 2)
  • Wed July 10 - THE RISE AND RISE OF MICHAEL RIMMER (15) - OFS revival of sharp 1970s British satire as spin doctor Peter Cook manipulates his way to the top of government.
  • Wed July 24 - BALTIMORE (15) - True-life story of why heiress Rose Dugdale renounces her wealth and privilege to join the IRA.  .
  • All films start at 7.30pm. More via OFS website
  • No film July 17 - but check out The Hatter's Requiem (16-17th), a two-evening preview of an Oswestry show heading to next month's Edinburgh Fringewww.hermon-arts.org.uk/whats-on
  • No film July 31
  • Please note - there'll be no films in August, but we'll be back with a bang in September

Please spread the word, and continue to support the Oswestry Film Society in keeping film screenings live in the town.
