Welcome back to cinema nights in Oswestry New film list announced | |
We hope you've been enjoying the August sunshine (?), but are raring to go for a return to big-screen Wednesday nights. Keeping cinema alive in Oswestry, the OFS can reveal its schedule for September and October - starting next week (Sep 4) with Chaplin. Not to be missed: Robert Downey Jr IS Charlie Chaplin in this warts-and-all life story of the film genius (top pic). Next up, Brendan Gleeson in the black comedy The Guard: he's perfect as the rural Irish policeman caught up in big-time crime (pic 2). Ryan Gosling plays Neil Armstrong wonderfully in First Man - looking at the difficult and often problematic ten-year build-up to the first manned mission to step onto the Moon (pic 3). (We all know how the final sequence will go, but the lunar landing is one of the most tense bits of cinema you'll see). And Maxine Peake packs a punch in the comedy drama Funny Cow, as a successful Northern stand-up comic reflecting on the hard knocks of her childhood and the tough path to the top. Dates, times and more below... Plus, plans are now afoot to bring you more world and independent films on the Wednesdays in-between, hopefully starting in October. Watch this space! | | Film details: - Wed Sep 4: Chaplin (15)
