ROBOTS, FOLK MUSIC & RECYCLED METAL
THE IRONWORKS LEND A METAL HAND (OR 10) TO SHREWSBURY FOLK FESTIVAL
Another exciting (and very unique) collaboration for the British Ironwork Centre begins as they gear up to lend a number of robot sculptures to Shrewsbury Folk Festival. Taking place from 23rd to 26th August, this annual festival is all about celebrating folk music and culture along Shrewsbury's beautiful riverside.
Wanting to add some extra intrigue for the younger festival-goers, the Folk Festival team approached the Ironworks about borrowing some of their sculptures. The Ironworks' latest on-site project - the creation of 20 unique recycled robots for another discovery trail across their grounds - is very near completion, so they decided to temporarily loan some of the characters to the Folk Festival. Clive Knowles, Chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, says:
"The hope is for this 'soft-launch' of our newest trail to bring some joy to the children at the festival. Each robot has been handcrafted from recycled or disused metal materials and are completely unique from one another. They all have their own little personalities, and we hope the people attending the festival enjoy them as much as we've enjoyed making them."
Once the festival has finished, the adventuring robots will return to their family and friends at the Ironworks, where they will become a permanent feature of the Centre's brand-new robot trail. Watch this space for more robot-related news.
