PIMPKINFEST at Park Hall Countryside Experience

Dear Blogger,

Message from Farmer Richard at Park Hall Countryside Experience

The Pumpkins Are Here!

3,500 pumpkins have arrived at the farm for Pumpkinfest. Our Halloween-themed event will be open on 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd October and then daily between 27th October and 4th November for half term. And we have lots of spooky fun in store!

We'll have a pumpkintastic time with:
?? Pumpkin Alley
?? Pumpkin Carving
?? Singing Pumpkins
?? Pick Your Own Pumpkin in the Shed

?? The Little Scare House
????? The Witches Cavern

Every paying child will receive a free pumpkin to carve in the farm's huge pumpkin shed (so you can leave all the mess with us!) and you can take your carved pumpkin home at the end of the day.

All the farm activities are included in the ticket price, so you can meet the animals, take tractor rides, play on the slides and softplay inside, or the zip wire and adventure course outside, and have non stop fun exploring the interactive zones.

Don't forget to book in advance to save money!

Christmas Extravaganza at Derwen College 24-26 November

Dear Blogger,

Message from Eluned at The Derwen College.

Christmas is coming early to Derwen College, near Oswestry, with preparations well underway for the bumper three-day Christmas Fayre from 24 to 26 November.

The three-day seasonal extravaganza offers something for everyone, including a popular Christmas Market featuring local crafts, decorations, food and gifts, and an audience with Santa and Mrs Christmas in their Christmas Kitchen. There's even the chance to meet two adorable miniature donkeys.

I have attached a press release and image which I hope you can use to help support our fayre, in aid of Derwen Charity. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need further information, photographs or a poster or flyer.

It's set to be a sparkly weekend of all things festive.

Whittington Music Festival 2024 programme available

Dear Blogger,

Message from Whittington Music Festival

The wait is over!

The programme for the 2024 festival is now on the website  https://www.whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk/festival-programme/
The festival opens on Thursday May 16 with a concert including the iconic Four Seasons by Vivaldi, and other baroque delights.
The other concerts offer a wide variety of music. Don't miss the world premiere of a song cycle for voice, flute, piano and string quartet specially written for us by Jeremy Sams, our composer in residence.
We are delighted that Braimah Kanneh-Mason, violinist and brother of the well-known Sheku, will be with us for the whole festival. He joins 14 other established and emerging stars, some of whom you will recognise from previous festivals.

Tickets
Ticket prices are essentially unchanged. The Saturday afternoon concert combines the Family concert with jazz from pianist Zoe Rahman and flautist Rowland Sutherland, price £15. Tickets for the main concerts are still £19 online, from Rowanthorn or on the door. Festival passes will be available at £76, a saving of £15 on all five concerts.
Renew online
If you have been thinking of renewing your Friends' subscription, you can now do this entirely online if you make a single payment. If you prefer to pay monthly, you will need to download the application form and contact the Friends' secretary, Pam Parish, to arrange this.
Next chairman?
The chairman of trustees will stand down in June 2024, so we are seeking a good listener with experience of chairing meetings to take over.
The role is interesting and should only require between five and ten hours' work a month, including meetings. There are currently eight enthusiastic and committed trustees, and financial risk is negligible as the trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Two references will be required, and the successful applicant will be able to shadow the current chairman for the remainder of his tenure.

Gabion looking for a home

Dear Blogger,

We have a redundant gabion looking for a home, rather than the dump. Can be used to house climbers or filled with stones to make a terrace or a feature. It is big but can easily be cut shorter.

It is 55cm square and 198cm long

You would need to pick it up from Brownhill House.
