NHS Future Fit explained - in a video!

We listened to feedback that people found it difficult to understand the ideas behind the NHS Future Fit proposals. To try to make it more simple we now have a video, which is just over 3 minutes long. This video has been produced in partnership with local patients who have all fed into its development. You can find it on our website, Twitter and Facebook

This video has been seen over 8000 people who use Facebook and that number is growing. Please watch it and pass on to family and friends so they can be more aware of the proposed changes to hospital services in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.

Urgent care centres explained

Urgent care centres have been often talked about when describing how urgent and emergency care services will be accessed from both of our main hospital sites. A useful diagram has been created by the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust (SaTH) which helps people to understand how services will be arranged in the future.

One of the most important messages is that people will still go to their local hospital, with around 60-70% of current cases still being treated at an urgent care centre. The emergency department will only deal with life threatening conditions.

We need you!

We are looking for people to be involved in some focus groups taking place in September and October time. It will initially be one 2 hour session, early evening. There will be one in the Telford and Wrekin area, three across Shropshire (north, central and south) and one in east Powys.

The aim of the sessions is to get your feedback on how people in your area find out about local information and what would be the best ways to send out information and to get feedback when we launch our formal consultation. We also want to talk about people about their experiences of using our local hospitals.

If you would like to be involved then please email nhsfuturefit@nhs.net. We are taking expressions of interest and we will be back in touch to let you know more information about date, time and venue.

Building tomorrow's future today - Sustainable services programme

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust's (SaTH) Sustainable Services Programme describes potential solutions to the challenges of Accident & Emergency and Critical Care provision in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Their web page of information provides their media releases and the views of local consultants.

Information needed about local volunteering

The Shropshire Voluntary and Community Sector Assembly (VCSA) have launched their survey to understand local approaches to volunteering from organisations across Shropshire. The survey takes place every other year and the VCSA are asking for local organisations to take part to help them understand the state of the economic climate, e.g. questions on staffing and grants; and volunteering social action. If you are an organisation based in Shropshire then please click on the link below to take part in the survey.

Get involved

Your thoughts and experiences are key in helping the NHS Future Fit programme design a service which meets the needs of the local population and delivers the best service possible.

We are currently booking in dates to visit the region. We will be starting in Telford and Wrekin Libraries then moving across Shropshire and Powys. Please see below for our dates confirmed for Telford and Wrekin, we look forward to seeing you there. More information on dates and venues in Shropshire and Powys will be available soon.

We are also starting to plan our consultation. At the moment we are planning that it will take place in December/January time. We are considering the different ways in which people like to find out information, how that differs across the region and the preferred way that people would like to give their feedback. Your views are needed and we will be asking people who we meet at our next round of pop up events and on social media. Please let us know your views.
