Message from John Guest, Doctor`s Meadow.
It's been brought to my attention that although I thanked people for taking part in the Countryfile Ramble, for Children In Need, on the Ruyton Newsgroup page, on Facebook, I haven't mentioned it, through Yoland's mailing list! The ramble took place on October 9th this year, with around 70 of us taking part. We walked, over the Cliffe, Hopton Hill and Nesscliffe Hill, with some people choosing to do shorter routes. Some of us took in some well deserved refreshment, at the Talbot Inn afterwards! Once I had checked and double checked all of the money collected ( there was a minimum entry donation of £1 and Pudsey Bear wristbands for sale), I paid in a whopping £210 online, this included a generous £10 donation, from our Parish Council. I was able to claim Gift Aid on this donation, which amounted to £52.50, bringing our total up to £262.50. Dot Williams paid in a separate £27, from sponsorship she had gathered, which, I believe, also had Gift Aid added to it. This is a fantastic effort by our villagers and a few from further afield, thank you for taking part, enjoying the day and raising so much, for such a good cause. Three of our photos, from the day, featured on the Countryfile Ramble special, screened on BBC1, on Sunday 6th November, at 6:00 p.m. FAME AT LAST! Thanks again, John Guest. WHO'S UP FOR NEXT YEARS RAMBLE?!
