JOHN PEACOCK
John trained in Fashion and History of Costume, and for many years was a top costume designer for the BBC. Now his interest has been drawn towards stitched collage, with the use of period fabrics, stained and oiled brown paper, coloured inks, paint and bleach. His inspiration comes from the countryside, particularly woodlands. Antique embroidery, patchwork and oriental carpets often influence the colour palette in his work.

AVA COOKE
In Ava's own words:
Currently studying at Shrewsbury College, I have developed my artistic techniques, especially using oils and graphite. Drawing has been an essential part of the process, and moving on to oil has created extra layers to my work. What particularly interests me is people and connecting with their emotions. I like creating paintings that hold more than just face value, and I'm interested in how others perceive my work. People engaging with my work at the Gallery is very satisfying.

A former car showroom, the gallery was founded by local craftsman Peter Vidal and opened in 2012 to promote contemporary art. A not-for-profit community interest company, the gallery supports established and emerging artists (particularly local talent) working across many disciplines, from painting and sculpture to fine woodworking, textile art, pottery, jewellery, glass and photography. As well as regularly-changing exhibitions, we run artist-led workshops and courses, and host a programme of events, including live music, craft fairs, special exhibits, craft demonstrations and talks. Our artists-in-residence enjoy engaging with the public and are keen to share their knowledge and passion. There is also a café and a shop.
