Coronavirus weekly figures: 29 Oct - 4 Nov The number of cases remained stable in the week of 29 October – 4 November. There were 1,232 positive cases reported – an increase of 1% on the previous week. However, the number of patients in Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals soared to 64 and sadly, there were 10 deaths. During the last week 36% of cases were in the Shrewsbury & Atcham area, 32% in North Shropshire and 32% in South Shropshire. Nearly a third of all cases were in 0-19 year olds. Vaccines protect against winter illnesses Appointments for a COVID-19 booster dose can now be booked on the NHS website if it's been at least five months or a minimum of 152 days since your second dose of the vaccine. The appointment you will be offered will still be more than six months (182 days) since your last dose. If you wish to attend a walk-in vaccination clinic, it must be six months since you had the second dose. Grab a jab - no appointment needed Parents can now take their children to a walk-in clinic for the COVID-19 jab if they missed it at school. Centres currently open to 12-15 year olds are: Ludlow Community Hospital - Saturday 13 November: 5pm-7pm
The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, near Oswestry: - Friday 12 November: 3pm-5pm
- Saturday 13 November: 8am – 5pm
Keep an eye out here for future clinics. You may have heard that the PCR testing site on London Road, Shrewsbury, was closed on Tuesday to get it ready for winter. It reopened on Wednesday morning and residents can once again go online and book a test in Shrewsbury. There are also sites in Oswestry, Market Drayton and Ludlow. If you have any symptoms, no matter how mild, please book a PCR test immediately. Please don't do this! Thank you to everyone who is doing their part to keep the county safe by continuing to wear a face covering. If it is a disposable mask, please dispose of it properly in the bin once you have finished with it. As much as we love seeing face coverings, we do not enjoy seeing them hanging from trees. Please help us keep Shropshire clean and tidy. |
