A WAY OF SEEING WITH REG TURRELL
Fairy-Tale Fungi
I remember Fly Agaric fungi in children's book illustrations and being fascinated by the untypical  colour and white lumps. I painted these on top of a heavily-textured board to give a sense of the caps forcing their way through surface debris. I have also tried to portray their unworldly appearance.

EXPRESSIVE SUNDAY
David Bannister's October workshop focused on expressive approaches to landscape painting, with lots of tips and strategies appropriate for different experience levels. David says this was a fabulous session, and he was impressed by what his students had achieved.

OSWESTRY REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY
PARADE & SERVICE
14 November
As is the tradition in the town, the parade will start at the Guildhall and be led by Porthywaen Silver Band to the Memorial Gates of Cae Glas Park where a service of remembrance will be held and weaths laid.

The parade will then return to the Guildhall for a short dismissal ceremony.

CAMBRIDGE COLLEGE RETURNS LOOTED BENIN BRONZE TO NIGERIA
The Okukor was taken from the kingdom of Benin in 1897 when thousands of bronzes were looted by British colonial forces. Benin was later absorbed into Nigeria. Photo: CHRIS LOADES
Jesus College has given the sculpture of a cockerel (known as an Okukor) back to Nigeria, making it the first UK institution to hand back one of the artifacts known as the Benin Bronzes.The sculpture had long been the subject of calls for repatriation from activists in Cambridge and international organisations alike. The UK retains hundreds of Benin Bronzes made by skilled artisans from the Edo culture.
