Ruyton XI Towns Unique War Memorial

Dear Blogger

TODAY IS REMEMBRANCE DAY

Here in Ruyton XI Towns we have a unique War Memorial, the only one in the country that you can walk into and sit down - as opposed to a church hall, hospital, library etc.

It is sobering to thnk that, of a population of 934 in the Parish, everyone would know a husband, father, brother, son, uncle, cousin or neighbour, out those lost from the village in the First World War.   Thankfully there are only 5 names listed in World War II.

Irena White and Yoland Brown have done extensive research into our listed Memorial, and an extended article can be seen  at www.eleventowns.uk/history.html  War Memorial& War Connections - Our Unique War Memorial.
