Whittington Music Festival 2024 - news update

Dear Blogger,

Message from Whittington Music Festival

Looking Ahead

The 2024 festival will open with Vivaldi's ever-popular Four Seasons and closes with Mendelssohn's prodigious Octet. And between those two classics is a wealth of glorious music, some of it well-known and some less so, but all performed with the hallmark excellence of our festival musicians. We are delighted that our three violinists, Braimah Kanneh-Mason, Rosa Hartley and Samuel Staples are all Beare's International Violin Society artists.

Nearly There

Our publicity material is now ready for printing and will be distributed as soon as we know that our financial position is strong enough for the 2024 festival to go ahead, although this may not be until early January. The current climate for the Arts is threatening with more and more promoters applying for dwindling funding streams. You may have heard that Mid Wales Opera recently lost its entire Arts Council of Wales grant and sadly will be forced to close. This precarious situation means that we are more reliant than ever on your generosity.
Gentle reminder

If you are intending to renew your subscription or make a donation, please do it now. You can renew and donate online if you're making a single payment. If you prefer to pay by monthly standing order, please contact Pam Parish: friendsec@whittingtonmusicfestival.org.uk or 01691 655358. We are working extremely hard to reach our target, but if we aren't successful all donations and subscriptions will be refunded in full.
Ticket prices

We have done all we can to keep ticket prices for the main concerts unchanged at £19; admission to the joint Family + Jazz concert on Saturday afternoon is a bargain at £15. Admission to all concerts is free for anyone aged under 26. Festival passes will be on sale again next year, at £76; a saving of £15 on all five concerts.
Booking

Early bird booking is expected to open on January 18th with general booking beginning a fortnight later on February 1st. As usual, tickets will be available online, from Whittington Post Office or Rowanthorn and on the door.
