Napoleon (15)

Friday 5th & Saturday 6th January  7:30pm

Sunday 7th January  2:00pm (subtitled for the Hard Of Hearing)

Napoleon is a spectacle-filled action epic that details the checkered rise and fall of the iconic French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, played by Oscar®-winner Joaquin Phoenix. Against a stunning backdrop of large-scale filmmaking orchestrated by legendary director Ridley Scott, the film captures Bonaparte's relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine, showcasing his visionary military and political tactics against some of the most dynamic practical battle sequences ever filmed.

"If, at 85, Ridley Scott has reached the final season of his filmmaking career, Napoleon is the ideal work of wintry grandeur to mark it. Scott's 28th feature is a magnificently hewn slab of dad cinema with a chill wind whistling over its battlefields and round its bones: its palette is so cold, even the red in the tricolore is often the shade of dried blood.

Spanning 32 years, from the outbreak of the French Revolution in 1789 to its title character's death on St Helena in 1821, it casts Napoleon Bonaparte's rise, reign and downfall as both a prickly psychodrama and a sweeping military epic, in which the intimate lives of its central players and the fate of France itself become instantly and anxiously entwined." **** The Telegraph

Director: Ridley Scott
Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Vanessa Kirby, Tahar Rahim, Ludivine Sagnier, Ian McNeice, Ben Miles

Run time: 2 hours 38 mins

"Timothée Chalamet leads a beguiling cast in a backstory that rinses away all sourness from Roald Dahl's embittered chocolatier" ***** Peter Bradshaw - The Guardian

"Wonka is a charming family film that really will appeal to all. The songs are fun, the acting is fun, the plot is fun and the chocolate is what dreams are made of." No More Workhorse

The Card enables a disabled cinema guest to receive a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them when they visit a participating cinema.
