Dear Blogger
We have just pruned the Red Willow. It is absolutely stunning when the sun shines on it at this time of the year - see attached picture. The thing about a young willow is that you don`t have to let it grow to a thumping big tree - decide how big you want it to grow - Shrub size from ground level or 5-6 feet as ours is.
Take one (or more) of our cuttings, stick it in the soil, or a bucket of water and roots will appear, then plant in chosen position. When the `stick` has reached the height you want it, chop the top off and then prunt the new growth every March/April.
Or
You can make baskets or willow sculpture with the prunings.
Just email me to arrange collection, of one or an armful.
