Break for the Borderlands
 Visit Oswestry in Spring

Read on to find out more, enter our competition to win tickets to two National Trust Properties and see special offers for spring breaks.
Travel group ABTA has named Shropshire as its only UK destination in their list of places to watch in 2024.  So why not head to Oswestry and discover this quiet corner of Shropshire for your spring break?
Friendly Oswestry

Friendly Oswestry - markets, trains and free events

Visit Oswestry and enjoy a friendly Shropshire market town in Spring. Easter weekend is a great time to get to know our market. There are free events on both Good Friday and Easter Saturday. The free Street Circus on Saturday is the friendliest, wackiest show in town!
It's time for the trains to start rolling again too. Take to the rails for Easter egg hunts or keep your eyes open for a rather large Easter bunny!
Surprising Oswestry

Surprising Oswestry – bluebells, lakeside walks and hidden pathways

Oswestry and the Borderlands are calling out to walkers, amblers, strollers and hikers. There's a surprise around every quiet corner. Wander along hidden pathways sparkling with starry flowers of wild garlic or stroll through drifts of bluebells to reach the top of Old Oswestry hillfort for far reaching views over the Shropshire plain. Take an amble around Ellesmere and then explore more of the nine meres or lakes that make up Shropshire's Lakeland.
Historic Oswestry

Historic Oswestry – castles, historic houses and spring gardens.

There is something quite special about exploring Oswestry and the Borderlands in spring. Visit one of our borderland castles and historic houses – which will you choose? You can meet the peacocks at majestic Powis Castle perched high above the market town of Welshpool? Or how about sterner Chirk Castle with its stunning collection of Myddleton family history? Erddig House is nearby with its unique upstairs downstairs stories of their families too. Don't miss our tiny Whittington castle either. This semi ruined castle sits quietly in the quintessential English village of Whittington complete with moated castle, swans and pubs – what more could you want?

Competition
