RIP John Morgan

Dear Blogger

On Thursday I went to John Morgan`s funeral.  He passed away at home at Birch Grove after a long struggle with cancer.

John was a much loved family man and a pillar of Ruyton society, his family having lived here, to my knowledge, for at least three generations.

John worked at Ruyton Dairy for many years, until its closure in 1992.   He and Netta took on the PGL riotous, hard drinking, heavy smoking and wonderfully fun loving drinkers at The Bridge Inn and were great landlords, more than happy and competant to take on a bar crammed full of 18 to 20 somethings.  Aaah, happy days.

John`s funeral showed what a popular man he was in the village, It was great to see so many old friends and acquaintances from the 50+ years Roger and I have lived in the village.  The old Ruytonians who made us so welcome, at the school gate, in Rolfe`s Shop and in the three pubs, when we arrived in the village.

John`s was a very special funeral for a very special man.
