Dear Blogger  Happy New Year

Message from Heather Hidden Oswestry & Border Historical archaelogy Group

This talk will be of particular interest to anyone living in our area as The Berth was once a man made fort in the middle of the wetland between Baschurch and Myddle.

'Excavations at the Berth, a low-lying marsh fort near Baschurch'

A wonderful start to OBHAG's year with an account of the recent excavations of this enigmatic site which is surrounded by marshy peatland.  An iron age fort and an enclosure are linked by interconnecting causeways, while a Romano-British copper alloy cauldron in remarkable condition was found submerged in the peat at the edge of the nearby lake.
