Dear Blogger
Message from James Bond, Oswestry Film Society.
We have a cinema back in Oswestry. Use it - and spread the word.
Comedy blockbuster kicks off new schedule... A fortnight today (Feb 25), the OFS returns - and we can't wait to welcome friends old and new. We're back at our original venue, the newly refurbished Kinokulture building that is now the Maona cinema. And we're kicking off with the huge belly-laugh success from last year, The Naked Gun (2025). You'll love it on the big screen. Wednesday Feb 25 - more details and booking info below... | | | Liam Neeson stars in spoof hit The Naked Gun We wanted to start the new Oswestry Film schedule with a bang - and what better way than the 2025 instalment of THE NAKED GUN, which rocketed to the top of the Official UK Film Chart on its release. Liam Neeson is marvellously deadpan as the incompetent police officer Frank Drebin junior (playing the son of the late Leslie Nielsen from the original 80s & 90s parodies). Jokes, slapstick and sheer fun (backing up the actual police story) will make you laugh throughout. And Neeson, playing against his customary all-action character, clearly enjoys himself in this wonderful spoof movie. Pamela Anderson is also a star turn. If you missed The Naked Gun last year, don't miss it in Oswestry on Wed Feb 25th, 7.30pm (PG). OFS tickets are currently bookable not through our own website but via the 'quick book' section of the Maona cinema website - www.maonacinema.com | | And also coming up with OFS and Maona... The OFS is restarting monthly (but looking to increase our offerings in the near future). Next up on Wed March 25 will be HOLY COW (15), a lovely French coming of age comedy-drama - which was originally on our schedule before our old venue closed. The new Maona cinema is consistently spreading its wings, putting on a wide range of films - from the latest blockbusters like Hamnet (sold out over its four-screening run), Is This Thing On, H Is For Hawk - to thought-provoking dramas. Check out its schedules for the full range of day and evening offerings, including the likes of No Other Choice (showing tomorrow), The Rental Family, the sporting Saipan... And we can thoroughly recommend the moving dramatisation of a highly emotional Palestinian true-story The Voice Of Hind Rajab. The bottom line: we have a cinema back in Oswestry. Use it - and spread the word. | | | |
