Planning Application, West Felton

MESSAGE FROM A CONCERNED WEST FELTON PARISHIONER

From: John Houghton [mailto:jph6@hotmail.com]

Subject: Planning Application

Hi Colleen,

I have been made aware that the Balfours planning application is unexpectedly being heard by the planning committee next Tuesday. I am worried that people are unaware of this and will miss out putting their views forward either for or against the development. I wondered if you wouldn't mind sending the message below around the West Felton mailing list?

Kind regardsJohn Houghton

BALFOURS PLANNING APPLICATION 13/01221/OUT

FOR 35 NEW HOUSES ON TEDSMORE FIELD IN WEST FELTON

The Shropshire Planning Authority, having at this stage failed to meet the 5 year land target for building,

apparently, have no option but to recommend that this application be approved.

This application is likely to be forced through regardless of the local people’s desire for ‘Open Countryside Status’

and before the findings of the ongoing Parish Plan can even be published.

This application is going before the North Area Planning Committee at Shirehall in Shrewsbury on

Tuesday the 10th December between 2pm and 4pm.

If you have any comments or concerns this is the last opportunity for West Felton residents to be heard.

A strong turnout could affect any planning decision.

If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to express your opinion please email Owen Paterson on his website www.owenpaterson.org

and Steve Charmley on Steve.Charmley@shropshire.gov.uk

PLEASE VOICE YOUR OPINION REGARDING 13/01221/OUT

BEFORE THE DECISION IS MADE FOR YOU!

Parking for Panto

Message from Colin Case.

Our School has kindly allowed their car park to be used for Panto Parking again - many thanks to the Head.

The gate will be locked shortly after the Panto finishes, so if you are going-on to some other establishment, please remember to move your car.

SHREWSBURY TOWN COUNCIL

PRESS RELEASE

DERELICT GREENHOUSE COULD GROW

INTO SOMETHING MORE

Land housing a Victorian greenhouse and council depot, within the picturesque grounds of Shrewsbury Quarry, could get a new lease of life if plans being drawn up by the Town Council go ahead.

Councillors have set up a working group comprising a manager, elected members and staff to look at the future potential of the Quarry depot with a view to improving facilities local people and visitors. The aim is to recommend a design brief for widespread public consultation.

The derelict greenhouse, which forms part of the site next to Quarry Lodge, is Grade II listed but is in a poor state of repair and little of the original building remains. However, because of its historical significance, plans would need to be sympathetic with vital features maintained and, where possible, worked into the new design.

Councillor Alan Mosley, Leader of the Council, said: “This is a gem of a site with great potential linked to the Quarry and town. It provides an exciting opportunity to develop a fabulous asset for local people and visitors alike, while greatly improving facilities for our staff.   No doubt a café, restaurant, function rooms will be considered. There might also be space for interpreting Shrewsbury’s great horticultural heritage, possibly in partnership with the Horticultural Society.”
