Dear National Gardens Scheme Supporter The main NGS "season" in Shropshire is getting underway in earnest so I am writing to thank you for your continued support of the scheme:  2015 was a record fund-raising year, nationally, with over £2.73m donated to the cancer and nursing charities supported by NGS.  It was also a record year in Shropshire with over £65,000 being raised across the county. It is thanks to support from people like you that we can raise these amounts of money to fund vital charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Care, Hospices UK, the Carers' Trust and the Queen's Nursing Institute.  Our support for Parkinson's UK will continue throughout 2016 and our new charity this year will be the MS Society.  A special donation was also given to the Cavell Nurses Trust. During 2016, together with our beneficiaries, we will be promoting the connection between gardens and health with special support for the establishment of gardens at spinal rehabilitation units in the UK.  This year will also see the opening of the very first hospice jointly funded by NGS and Macmillan.
