Qube, Oswestry is looking for volunteers to help with an exciting project, Men on the Gates.
The charity has recently been awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to research and document the lives and stories of the men commemorated on the Oswestry War Memorial Gates. The 'Men on the Gates' project plans to create a comprehensive heritage resource for future generations documenting Oswestry's role during the conflict. The final research will link to national archives through an interactive website and printed publications.

Qube is calling for anyone with an interest in Oswestry's WW1 history to get involved by becoming a research volunteer. Anyone interested is invited to come along to one of the drop-in sessions at Qube, held every Friday from 10am to 2pm, where Project Researcher, John Davies will be on hand to talk about the Men. John said, "There is so much information coming to light already. It's fascinating to see the connection these men had with Oswestry and each other".
Do you have an ancestor commemorated on the War Memorial Gates? Qube is inviting anyone with stories, photos, artefacts and personal testimony's to share them with the project.
