View this email in your browser FESTIVAL NEWS AND PLEA FOR HELP! Dear friends, I hope you are well and looking forward to Christmas without too much trepidation. You will know from the previous email that we are planning a Whittington Festival for next year. We are delighted that Sophia Rahman - who played for us in 2019 - has agreed to be the Festival's Artistic Director for 2021, and she has some exciting ideas about how we can bring you live music once more.   Sophia Rahman, photo: Kaupo Kikkas It may not be easy, particularly as we do not know what the conditions will be next year, so we do not feel we can run a festival on the scale of past years, but do keep 1st - 3rd May 2021 free.   Looking beyond this, we would be very pleased to involve you in the development of the Whittington Music Festival for the future. We have had a great series of festivals, and are indebted to James, Rosie and Lawrence for all they have done over the past eight years. The success of these festivals has been due to the support and help of so many, which has meant we have enjoyed concerts of the highest quality. It's a major task to run a festival of the sort we have been used to: seeking grants and financial support, arranging musicians and a programme, publicity and ticket sales, are all part of what makes a successful festival.   Now we have to see if there can be a Whittington Music Festival beyond 2021. The trustees invite you to be part of the future. You, or someone you know of, may wish to consider joining our team in a specific role. We urgently need someone with IT experience to manage the website and database. This is not an onerous task and it will not be necessary to become a trustee.
