An example of birds that nest on The Cliffe

Dear Blogger

Message from David Shearan.

You know this thing about protecting nesting birds by keeping dogs on a lead while on the Cliffe? Someone asked if there really are nesting birds up there. There are at least 20 species of ground/low nesting birds that take advantage of this brilliant space and here is one of them. It's a Stonechat and a real specialist of this habitat (open spaces with scrub and gorse). We saw a pair yesterday while working on the heather reseeding and they were obviously prospecting for a nesting site. You can help to protect beautiful birds like this. Please don't allow your dogs to roam across the Cliffe. Thank you Neil Bennett for the amazing photo.
