Birds on the Cliffe, Skylark & Meadow Pipit

Dear Blogger

Message from David Shearan.

Well you lucky people, here are two more fabulous photos from Neil Bennett and this time we have
Skylark with its crest raised and Meadow Pipit in a typical pose on a gorse bush. Both of these bird species are ground nesters and both will typically be building their nests
very soon. Quite a few people have told me they used to see and hear loads of Skylarks on the
Cliffe but sadly current conditions probably don't allow it. However the Meadow Pipits really
ought to be successful if they can get through their breeding season without a lot of disturbance. Who knows, perhaps the continued conservation work and efforts to keep dogs on short leads may even mean Skylarks will return to the Cliffe once again.
