Birds on the Cliffe - the Garden Warbler

Dear Blogger

Message from David Shearan

Birdwatchers often use the abbreviation LBJ which stands for Little Brown Job and it perfectly describes this bird which is a Garden Warbler. This is another summer migrant which flies from central and Southern Africa to the UK and some of them to the Cliffe. It is also another bird that nests low down in a shrub or small tree or among plant stems. It might be boring in appearance (it's Latin species name is actually 'borin') but it's song is spectacular, a stream of sweet music that can sometimes last for up to a minute. It's possible to confuse the songs of Blackcap and Garden Warbler but you could not confuse them by sight.
