Another Cliffe bird - The Blackcap

Dear Blogger

Message from David Shearan

Today's bird to look out for on the Cliffe is the Blackcap (thanks once again to Neil Bennett). This is the male bird - the female has the same appearance except she has a brown cap. Some Blackcaps overwinter in Britain but generally we start to see them in April and May when they migrate here from Germany and North Europe. Their song is a delight and a real promise of summer. They typically nest in bramble and other low thickets so this really is one of our nesting birds that are at risk of being disturbed if we are not careful. David
