Booka's Crowdfunding Campaign
Marcus Rashford, MBE is an impressive role model and someone we can all learn from. He has campaigned tirelessly to end food poverty throughout the Pandemic and has also been advocating the importance and power of books as having a transformative impact on the lives of young people. He is passionate about getting books into the hands of young readers, particularly those who might not own a book of their own and may not have access to books. We share his vision and with your help we want to get as many books into the hands of children in our local area as possible. Marcus has recently written a book with Carl Anka, 'You Are A Champion: How To Be the Best You Can Be' Marcus is famous worldwide for his skills both on and off the pitch - but before he was a Manchester United and England footballer, and long before he started his inspiring campaign to end child food poverty, he was just an average kid from Wythenshawe, South Manchester. Now the nation's favourite footballer wants to show YOU how to achieve your dreams, in this positive and inspiring guide for life. You Are a Champion is packed full of stories from Marcus's own life, brilliant advice and top-tips from performance psychologist Katie Warriner. It will show you how to be the very BEST that you can be. It shows kids how to:- Be comfortable with who you are - you can't be a champion until you're happy being you!- Dream big- Practise like a champion- Get out of your comfort zone and learn from your mistakes- Navigate adversity in a positive way- Find your team- Use your voice and stand up for others- Never stop learning. It is an important and timely book and one all children deserve access to. Around 20% of children in Shropshire are living in poverty and food poverty levels are on the increase as a result of the economic difficulties that the Pandemic has caused. We will be working with local schools, to distribute books to children who need and will benefit from this book, along with our local Foodbank and other agencies who have links with families and children who might not otherwise have access to books. Each £5 donated will allow us to supply 1 book If we reach our target, this will enable us to supply 1600 copies of 'You Are a Champion' to children in our local area, through our links with local Primary and Secondary Schools.
Please help us to make a difference to the life chances of young children in our area. Our Deadline is 24th August!
