On the edge of Shrewsbury, the multi award-winning community allotments at Bowbrook are re-opening for the National Garden Scheme in Shropshire on Sunday 8th August (2-6pm). Recipient of the RHS National Certificate of Distinction, this 6.5 acre site displays wide ranging cultivation methods. Members cultivate organically with nature in mind using companion planting to attract natural predators. Green spaces flourish throughout and include Gardens of the 4 Seasons, orchards and many wildlife features including wildflower meadows and pond. Children are encouraged to be part of the community and have their own special places: story telling willow dome, willow tunnel, sensory garden and turf spiral. See the now well-developed Contemplation Garden & Prairie Garden. New all-ability plot developed in 2020 was part-funded by the National Garden Scheme's Community Gardens Award. Refreshments available. Tickets are available in advance but visitors can turn up and pay on the gate: https://ngs.org.uk/view-garden/22644 Children under 16 have FREE entry to all NGS gardens including Bowbrook. | | | Second chance to see beautiful Cruckfield House This romantic, beautifully planted garden opened to great acclaim in July, now in later summer, visitors can enjoy the deep, colourful borders and exuberant planting.
