Windy Ridge open over the weekend of 4th & 5th September One of Shropshire's most beautifully designed and planted gardens - Windy Ridge at Little Wenlock, nr Telford, will be open to National Garden Scheme visitors over the weekend of 4th & 5th of September (12-5pm on each day). Inspirational planting and balance of texture, form and all-season colour, the garden more than lives up to its award-winning record. Over 1000 species of plants set off by well-tended lawns, plenty of water and fascinating sculpture: there is much to admire in this beautiful garden. Visitors can just turn up and pay on the gate. Oakly Park, Bromfield, Ludlow, open on SATURDAY 4th Sept (1-5pm) one of Shropshire's magnificent estates, named after its centuries-old oak trees, is rarely open to the public. At the confluence of the Onny & Teme rivers with views to Ludlow and beyond, this wonderful garden features a 2-acre productive walled garden, well-planted borders, rose garden, fern grotto, lake and interesting historical features. Part-funded by the National Garden Scheme, this Bunny Guinness-designed garden opened to great acclaim in 2019 . A garden of peace, tranquility and beauty for patients in the spinal unit. Maturing into it's autumn colours and interest, this popular garden, which has opened for 40 years for the National Garden Scheme in Shropshire, remains a favourite with visitors. | | | Appledore & Offcot: (Kinnerley, just off the A5 between Shrewsbury and Oswestry) (pictured below) these two wonderful, adjoining cottage gardens, opened to great acclaim in July and have added two additional dates in October for visitors to enjoy the lovely autumn colours and late perennials at the gardens. Open on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th October (10.30-4.30 each day).
