Message from British Ironworks Centre Family Flee Ukraine for Shropshire A Shropshire farming family had their hearts moved by the plight of a Ukrainian family fleeing a war zone and heading to England to seek refuge. After being forced to leave their home country and everything they knew, the Ukrainian husband and wife arrived in the UK with their young son and headed to Shropshire, where they were taken in by a farming family who wish to remain anonymous. Despite speaking limited English, they were eager to find work suitable to their skills so they could give back to their hosts for their generosity whilst contributing to the household. The family have been finding their feet in a new country and culture, commenting on how peaceful Shropshire was and how calm and quiet the people were, whilst being taken aback by the kindness and warmth of the local community of Shotatton and the surrounding areas. The Ironworks were more than happy to help the family to resettle and found work around the centre to suit their skills. Clive Knowles, Chairman of the British Ironwork Centre, says "the Ukrainian people arriving here need us all to go the extra mile to assist them. In this fragile world, any country could potentially find itself within the same awful position. As a society, there is so much we can do to assist those who need it most." After spending three days with the Ironworks, the family are now moving on and relocating to Telford.
